A woman who decided not to wear a tampon while running the London Marathon on her period has been branded 'disgusting' and unhygienic'.
Kiran Gandhi, 26, let her period flow freely during the 26-mile race in a bid to raise awareness about people who have no access to feminine products.
After sharing the story on her blog in the aftermath of the race, the former M.I.A drummer's actions have since gone viral and sparked a huge debate around the issue with thousands of people commenting on social media.
@Sugarchic189 said: "What a disgusting way to spread awareness! Why couldn't you raise funds to send tampons or pads to places that lacked access!"
Stacey Alrdidge added: "It's not empowering. It's simply unpleasant. Sad woman."
