Heart-stopping Moment Gang Of Youths Perch On Crumbling 300ft Cliff

The picture shows the group of young people perching on an famously unstable chalk ledge at Cuckmere Haven on the Severn Sisters cliffs in East Sussex.
It was taken by Patrick Goff at about 3pm on Saturday near his home town of Seaford.
He said;
"It was a beautiful day and I was out walking on the other side of the estuary when I saw them just sitting there at the top of the cliff.
"They were about three quarters of a mile away so there was no use shouting.
"They were quite calm and there was a lad in the middle with a note book and they were just nattering.  I watched them for about 15 minutes then I wandered off.
"The place is well known for cliff falls. There are no fences because as soon as they put them up the cliffs move and they fall in to the sea.
"They were perched on a little ledge of chalk but those ledges can easily crumble down from underneath people. The coastguard is continually being called out to dogs, people and anything else that has fallen down there."
See how high is the cliff, after the cut...
