Security Agents Fire Tear Gas As Thugs Stone President Jonathan’s Convoy In Katsina

Goodluck Jonathan campaign for his reelection in Katsina

Security agents attached to President Goodluck Jonathan had a frantic time dispersing a surging crowd of political thugs attempting to attack President Goodluck Jonathan’s convoy Tuesday in Katsina.

The broom-wielding thugs pelted Mr. Jonathan’s convoy with stones and chanted ‘Sai Buhari’ as they struggled to get within touching distance of the vehicles.
The President, who was in the state for his presidential campaign, was visiting Hajiya Dada, the mother of late President Umar Musa Yar’adua when the incident happened.
Katsina is the home state of Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate.
The youth, who were repelled as they tried to attack the president’s convoy driving into the Yar’Adua quarters in Katsina, waited patiently outside the former president’s home.
When it was time for Mr. Jonathan to depart from his visit to the Yar’Aduas’, the youth struck again, blocking off the president’s exit route and it took the firing of tear gas canisters to disperse them.
Earlier, Mr. Jonathan had paid a courtesy visit to Abdulmumuni Usman, the Emir of Katsina, where he spoke about how his political journey began as the vice president to Mr. Yar’Adua.
