Why Jonathan will win —PDP strategists

STRATEGISTS of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have proffered reasons they believe President Goodluck Jonathan is in a pole position ahead of his opponents in the forthcoming general election.
A strategic document prepared by the party ahead of the president’s declaration today indicated that the Jonathan was not only the man to beat, but also way ahead of his would-be contenders at the February 2015 election.

The document read in part: “Apart from being an incumbent, who would not have to learn on the job, the president has delivered on set targets and he is stabilising the polity.
“He has given hope to Nigerians by his performance and his support of democratic structures. His support base is not regional or ethnic base, as he is delivering on the objectives of the party and none of his opponents can claim to have widespread support base close to his. You do not change a horse in the middle of a race.”
The document compared President Jonathan with his likely opponents at the polls and concluded that none of them came close in achievements.
“We will be thumping up the president’s achievements in the last four years and we will ask our opponents to dispute them.
“A lot of documents have been put together to communicate to Nigerians, including the one by the One Nigeria Coalition. We are going to be stating clearly what Jonathan has done to lift the country,” a party source said.
The source said with all available records, Jonathan would beat any of the candidates the opposition party would parade.
