14 Dead, 30 Injured In Two Accidents On Lagos – Ibadan Expressway


At least 14 persons have been confirmed dead while 30 others were critically injured in two auto accidents, which occurred at the Ogunmakin in the Ogun State corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Thursday, and late Wednesday.
Four persons were confirmed dead, while10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries, in the accident which occurred on Thursday morning at the same Ogunmakin stretch of the expressway.
It was gathered that Thursday’s accident involved an Ibadan- bound tanker truck with a registration number MKA 338 ZB and laden with the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petroleum and a luxurious passenger bus with registration number (LAGOS) AAA 656 XN coming from Abuja.
The 10 injured passengers were evacuated to a private hospital, in Sagamu, while four corpse were deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
In the crash, which earlier occurred on Wednesday night few meters away from the same Ogunmakin, 10 persons were confirmed dead, while 20 others were critically injured and taken to a private hospital in Ogunmakin.
The Deputy Route Commander and Acting Zonal Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ndidi Frederick-Imo, who confirmed the accidents, said the Wednesday crash involved a trailer bearing cows alongside 27 people in the vehicle and another trailer truck marked (LAGOS) XE 444 KTU.
