Suarez Picks Up Hamstring Injury In Training

Luis Suárez has strained his left hamstring and will undergo physiotherapy, Barcelona have said.

The club do not specify in their statement on Thursday how long Suárez might be sidelined, saying the “evolution of his treatment” will determine when he returns to training.

“Luis Suárez, with a hamstring strain in his left leg, will have physiotherapy and the progress of his recovery will determine when he can train again,” Barça said on their website.

Suárez, who joined from Liverpool in July, is at the centre of Barcelona’s attacking trio, between Neymar on the left flank and Lionel Messi on the right.

The Uruguay striker has scored 24 goals in all competitions since his ban for biting an opponent at last year’s World Cup finals expired at the end of October and has also made 16 assists.

Barcelona are going for a treble in the next three weeks. They lead the Spanish League by four points with two matches remaining, face Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final on May 30, and play Juventus in the Champions League final on June 6, reports The Associated Press.
