Twitter War: Omokri, Osinbajo Bicker Over Fake APC Rally Photo

The Twitter war raging ahead of the February 14 presidential poll took another dimension as the special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on new media, Reno Omokri and the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate, Prof Osinbajo argued over a fake APC rally photo in Kano.

Omokri, who took a swipe at Osinbajo yesterday in his tweet via his twitter handle @renoomokri, faulted the photo the APC’s vice presidential candidate erroneously re-tweeted via his Twitter handle @ProfOsinbajo, mistaking it for the APC Kano rally on Tuesday.
But it was discovered that the photo was a crusade organised by renowned evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke in Ogbomosho.
Omokri started by tweeting a photo of yesterday’s Jonathan’s rally in Kano which he captioned, “This is not @ReinhardBonnke crowd photo (apologies to @ProfOsinbajo). This is a real crowd in Kano for GEJ #GEJisit”
Prof Osinbajo replied thus, “@renoomokri Going to Kano after we just left, Mr. Omokri? Good to see the PDP & Mr. President follow progress for a #Change.”
Omokri then urged Osinbajo to pay copyright royalties to Evangelist Bonnke for ‘borrowing’ his picture.
“@ProfOsinbajo You are welcome Prof. I hope you remembered to pay @ReinhardBonnke copyright royalties for ‘borrowing’ his picture? #GEJisit”.
Omokri and former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro led other Nigerians on twitter to condemn the GMBVolunteers and Osinbajo for re-tweeting the Reinhard Bonnke’s photo on Tuesday.
Omokri tweeted further, “Before GEJ if you had to go to Kano from Lagos you either drove or flew. Today, because of GEJ you can take a train for only 1930! #GEJisit
“Put on the TV and see the sea of people that came to declare support for President Jonathan in Kano. GEJ popular all over Nigeria! #GEJisit.
“Yes Jonathan rented Kano crowd by restoring Lagos-Kano rail, building Almajiri schools and repairing & dualising Kano-Maiduguru Rd #GEJisit.
““The PDP has established two universities in Jigawa within my time. The state university and the Fed University”-#GEJisit.
“Nigerians will NEVER live in bondage” – President Jonathan #GEJisit..”
