Barely 24 hours after Manchester United were lucky to leave league two side, Cambridge United unbeaten, bigger earthquakes have taken place with Premier League champions, Manchester City, current league leaders, Chelsea and Swansea all losing to lower league opponents in the FA Cup on Saturday.
League One side Bradford City produced an amazing comeback from 2-0 down to beat Premier League leaders Chelsea in a thrilling FA Cup fourth-round tie.
Gary Cahill flicked Oscar’s left-wing corner in to put the Blues ahead, before Ramires doubled their lead after a one-two with team-mate Mohamed Salah.
Bradford’s Jon Stead pulled one back with an 18-yard shot and Felipe Morais side-footed in an equaliser.
Andy Halliday blasted in a third and Mark Yeates tapped in a fourth.
At the Etihad Stadium, Patrick Bamford and Kike condemned Manchester City to an FA Cup exit at the hands of Championship opponents for the second season running.
Middlesbrough striker Bamford, on loan from Chelsea, bundled in the first after an error by Fernando.
Lee Tomlin hit a post for Boro, while Frank Lampard did the same for City.
But substitute Kike struck a second on the break for the visitors, who followed Wigan’s example of last season by knocking City out of the cup.
And in continuing with the upset trend, in the first game of the day, Blackburn Rovers scored two late goals to knock Premier League Swansea out of the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage.
The visitors had Kyle Bartley sent off for fouling Josh King after just seven minutes but took the lead when Gylfi Sigurdsson powered in a 25-yard strike.
Rovers equalised quickly when Chris Taylor sent in a shot on the turn.
Rudy Gestede bundled the ball in and Craig Conway added a third for Blackburn before Sigurdsson was the second Swansea player to be red carded.
Gestede has been linked with a move to the Premier League in January and he will have enhanced his reputation after coming on to help turn the tie in his side’s favour.
He had surprisingly started the match on the bench alongside fellow forward Jordan Rhodes, but both ended the match on the pitch as the Championship side capitalised on their numerical advantage to secure their progress, reports the BBC.
