APC Ticket: Online Polls Put Atiku Ahead Of Other Aspirants


Ahead of the rescheduled December 8, 2014 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, former vice president and frontline APC presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, is likely to emerge the opposition party’s flagbearer to contest against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential race if the outcome of a poll by an online news portal is anything to go by.
In the online poll conducted by the TheCable and monitored by our reporter in Abuja at the weekend, the news portal asked its readers to vote on who they considered the best presidential candidate out of all the aspirants vying for APC ticket for the 2015 presidential election.

The result as at Saturday night showed Atiku leading with 32 per cent of the votes by the readers. The former vice-president was closely followed behind by former head of state General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), who got 30 per cent votes and surprisingly the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, came third with 21% votes.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal,who is still undecided over his 2015 ambition and a new APC entrant beat Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to a fourth position with 11% of readers’ votes leaving the leader of the Kwankwasiya political movement with only 2% votes.
Meanwhile, about 4% of the voters in the poll said all the aspirants are not suitable for the ticket and the contest as well while he poll organisers also did not give any reason as to why they excluded the names of other aspirants for the APC ticket on the poll template.
