Abuja Police arrest Tony Anene, fleeing prison inmate, others

The Federal Capital Territory FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested several hoodlums who have been terrorising some parts of the territory in recent times. Consequently, the Command has read the riot act to criminals in the territory, vowing to step up patrol of “dark spots” in the city.

While laying emphasis on community partnership, the police said it had expanded its intelligence network to keep criminals at bay. Among those arrested is a robbery syndicate whose leader, Tony Anene, paraded himself as an “informer” but was later discovered to be the one carrying out surveillance on potential victims.
Parading the suspects in Abuja, Commissioner of Police in the territory, Wilson Inalegwu, said one Jesse James Dangabas who escaped during a recent attack on Koton Karfe prison in Kogi State was also re-arrested in the Kwali area of Abuja.
He said upon completion of interrogation, the suspect would still be arraigned in court.
