President To Slash Own Salary, Make Others Follow Suit

President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans to slash his salary and reduce his remunerations, Punch reports.
It is believed that Buhari is making the move to fulfil one of his campaign promises, which is to reduce the cost of governance.
It was gathered that the President has not made the action public because yet because he is still consulting with his close associates on how to best to make the Vice-President and other political appointees do the same without being perceived as dictatorial.
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, had last week, revealed President Buhari's salary breakdown.
Buhari will earn a monthly salary of N3, 514, 705. He is also entitled to a regular hardship allowance and 50 per cent of the basic salary, which is N1,757,350.50.
It is however still unknown as to what percentage of the President's salary and remunerations will be slashed.
