Yaya Toure is set to join Inter Milan, after vice-president, Javier Zanetti confirmed a deal was close.
The Ivory Coast midfielder will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season and looks likely to join former boss, Roberto Mancini in Italy.
Toure is reportedly the highest earner at City, picking up around £220,000 a week and signed a four-year contract in April 2013.
When asked about negotiations, Zanetti told Gazzetta dello Sport: “We are at the stage where we hope we can complete it. Yaya would give us that leap in quality.”
Zanetti also revealed that they are trying to bring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta back to the club. The Italy international played three seasons for Inter, before moving to France in 2012.
“If Motta were to arrive, he could give so much,” Zanetti said “He knows the club, he has experience, quality and is one of the strongest midfielders that I have ever played with. He is very intelligent. To bring players like them would give us that leap in quality.”
