Serie A Club Cagliari Sack Zola

The ex-Chelsea FC striker, 48, succeeded Czech-Italian coach Zdenek Zeman in December with Cagliari bottom of the Serie A but has not been able to guide them out of the relegation zone.
Zola leaves the Italian side in 18th place having managed just two wins in ten Serie A matches. Cagliari said it was “a decision taken reluctantly against a big man who wrote unforgettable pages in the history” of the club.

It added: “Cagliari Calcio announce the sack of Gianfranco Zola and his staff from the technical crew of the senior team.
“We thank him and his backroom staff for the work done during these months with dedication, professionalism and passion.”
Zola finished his playing career in June 2005 at the Italian club. He began his managerial career at West Ham in 2008 but was sacked after less than two years at the helm of the Boleyn Ground outfit.
He took over the reins at Watford in 2012 but stepped down midway through his second season before taking over the reins at his native Sardinian outfit on Christmas Day 2014.
