Ini Edo Walks Against Rape, Releases Movie

Some celebrities recently took time out of their busy schedules to speak against sexual molestation, through a walk organised by Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye-led Rubies Ink Media. The campaign tagged “Walk Against Rape” kicked off at the Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, by 8a.m. Most of those in attendance carried placards with various inscriptions, to press home their stand on the issue.

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo wants offenders to be kept in the zoo, where she believes, they belong because, according to her, they are not fit to be among humans. She said: “Domestic violence and rape occur in so many homes in Africa. Women are supposed to be protected by men and not abused by them. Let’s work together on this, say no to rape. Let’s walk the walk and talk the talk. All rapists should be in zoo.” Those present at the rally include Annie Idibia, Lami Philips, Kehinde Bankole, and Tosin Ajibade, among many others.

A movie featuring the pretty actress was also released during the week. Titled While You Slept, it features other acts like Joseph Benjamin, Venita Akpofure, and Bobby Michaels. The movie, which was shot in Lagos, is about a lady, ‘Amaka Okoro’ whose life has been turned upside down when Najite, a mysterious stranger, shows up claiming to be the secret wife of Emeka, Amaka’s late husband.

While You Slept was produced by Ini Edo, supervising producer was Emem Isong, screenplay was by Kehinde Joseph and Chiji Vivians while it was directed by Desmond Elliot. The movie will be screened in cinemas from March 20.
