HOW ABUJA-BASED MUSICIAN WAS BEATEN BY SOLDIERS

An Abuja-based journalist with Daar Communications, Rymsta Ray Ekwu, has shared his horrible ordeal in the hands of officers of the Nigerian military, who allegedly assaulted him some days ago. Ekwu, also a gospel artiste, disclosed that he was beaten because he wore a camouflage short.

The radio show host narrated that he was assaulted after he saw off a friend who had visited him last week. In the process, his ear was damaged.
“On my way back home from escorting a friend, I was heavily assaulted by two soldiers on mufti for wearing camo shorts. They slapped and beat me with their hands and belt, but to God's glory my eardrum wasn't ruptured.
“I got several stiches and by His grace, I'm getting better. I forgive these soldiers for what they did to me. All I can say is ‘Thank You Jesus!’,” he narrated.
Several Nigerians have suffered similar ordeals in the hands of overzealous junior, who pounce on civilians for wearing camouflages.
