Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Boyfriend Nick Gordon Breaks His Silence

Nick Gordon has spoken out for the first time since he found his girlfriend, Bobbi Kristina Brown, unresponsive in a bathtub on Jan. 31 – saying he is praying for her, and denying reports that he is taking legal action to be able to see her.

Jerod Brown, Bobbi Kristina’s cousin, told Atlanta’s WXIA-TV on Thursday that Gordon, 25, was pursuing legal means to see his girlfriend, having reportedly been barred from the hospital by her family. But through a lawyer, Gordon says that isn’t true.

“In response to reports that Nick Gordon is taking legal action, he would like it to be clear, he is not,” attorney Randy Kessler says in a statement. “Mr. Gordon’s only concern is the recovery of Bobbi Kristina. He remains in constant prayer for his companion and he hopes to be reunited with her soon.”

Kessler adds: “Despite the incredible public interest, we ask and hope that this request can be resolved privately by Mr. Gordon and the family.”

Brown, 21, the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, remains on life support and has not regained consciousness since she was admitted to the hospital.

She has repeatedly referred to Gordon as her husband over the past year, though Brown’s family says they were never legally married.

Things have been tense between Gordon and the Houston family for some time, and tensions boiled over last year when Brown’s aunt, Marion “Pat” Houston, obtained a restraining order against Gordon.

Police in Roswell, Georgia, have launched a criminal investigation into Brown’s case. Reports have claimed that Gordon is at the center of the investigation, with a family source telling PEOPLE last week that they were looking into “foul play.”
