Danes Allocate $2m To Boko Victims

Copenhagen - The Danish government is allocating $2m to help the victims of the Boko Haram extremist group in Nigeria.

Foreign aid minister Mogens Jensen says Denmark is acting "in solidarity with the affected families" and wants to give them clothes, food, shelters and "a possibility to get through the crisis."
Jensen said on Thursday the recent slaughter of hundreds of villagers in Nigeria's north has caused major displacements from rural areas to the main cities, in northeastern Nigeria and neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon. He added the money would be channelled through the international Red Cross and the United Nations.
