Yet to confirm fresh attacks in Borno
The Federal Government has alerted of plans by Boko Haram, to carry out attacks on “soft targets” during the yuletide.
Addressing journalists in Abuja Thursday at the National Information Centre (NIC), Mr. Mike Omeri, who coordinates the briefing, said security operatives uncovered the plans by the sect members.
Omeri, who is also the Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), identified churches, mosques, motor parks and recreation centres, as some of the places that may be targeted.
He, however, assured that the federal government has already begun serious security deployments around the country, to nip the wicked plot in the bud, and ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
On reports of a fresh attack in a Borno town over the weekend in which 32 people were killed and 185 others kidnapped, the NIC coordinator said he needed time to confirm the incident.
