2015: INEC Has Customised Ballot Papers, Result Sheets – Jega
Ahead of the 2015 general election, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has announced that the electoral body will conduct the polls with “customised” ballot papers and result sheets.
The development, he noted, was to ensure that politicians do not hijack ballot papers and result sheets meant for other polling units.
Jega further assured the public of the readiness of the commission, to conduct free, fair and credible elections, scheduled for February 14 and 28, respectively, saying other new innovations have been introduced, to discourage rigging.
The INEC boss, who spoke Thursday at a one-day workshop organised by the police force headquarters for commissioners of police in Abuja, accused politicians of mounting unbearable pressure on the commission’s ad-hoc staff, to compromise the electoral process.
He also assured that the commission was prepared elections across the country, even as he noted that it will work closely with security agencies,
on the security situation in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, as well as the fate of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
