Robbers disarm policemen, empty bullion van

Like a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster film, some daredevil armed robbers on Thursday ambushed a bullion van loaded with cash at Elemesho Village in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State and escaped with the loot.

The operation that lasted about seven minutes happened around 4.50pm in the agrarian community along Ondo/Akure road.

Also, the incident, which turned the community into ghost town when they heard the booming of the gunshots began, saw injuries to the drivers of the bullion van and a vehicle plying the road.

The bullion van with registration number FST 954 AL and its escort with registration number PF 3444 SPY belonging to an old generation bank, were coming from Ondo Town where they have loaded the money and where on their way to Akure, the state capital to discharge it when they ran into an ambush mounted by the armed robbers.
