Opeyemi Fajemilehin Confirmed Dead

Foremost Yoruba presenter and talk-show host, Opeyemi Fajemilehin is dead.

The news of his death was broken this morning by his family in Ilesha, Osun State.

When our correspondent visited his home town, it was learnt that Radio Lagos presenter breathed his last Tuesday evening.


The death of the one-time General Manager of Unik FM, Ara Station in Ilesa has been linked to diabetes, which he had been battling with for some time.

Fajemilehin had almost four decades of broadcasting experience that cut across both radio and television productions and across different stations.

The versatile Yoruba broadcaster was also an Ewi exponent with 19 recorded works to his credit. Late Fajemilehin, the man to whom late Gbenga Adeboye gave credits for discovering him, had many productions to his credits, among which were Itan Igbesi Aiye Awolowo (The Life and Times of Chief Obafemi Awolowo) and Itan Igbesi Aiye Orlando Owoh.

He presented "FAJEMILEHIN ON FM" and "PIRILOLOGO NJI" on Radio Lagos Ikeja; he also anchored "FAJEMILEHIN ON THE ROCK" on Paramount FM 94.5,Abeokuta. He had three books to his credit: "EWI IWOYI","EWI KIKA ATI KIKE", and "ENI BIMO ORAN".

Hewas born in the mid-fifties in Igede Ekiti, Ekiti State. He attended both primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State and Ikire in Osun State respectively.He equally studied at Lagos Sec. Comm. Academy(LASCA) now known as Ilupeju College,Obanikoro Lagos.He proceeded to Nigeria Institute of Journalism(NIJ).
