Actors donate to displaced persons in Gombe

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has presented relief materials worth thousands of naira to displaced persons in Gombe State. Speaking shortly after presentation of the items to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) yesterday, president of the group, Ibinabo Fiberesima, called on Nigerians to come together and assist children who are out of school as a result of the insurgency.

“Getting here at the camp, I am even more heart broken that I came. It is actually real. These children have not been in school for God knows how long and we have to do something.

People should stop looking at it as a North East problem, it is Nigeria, it can be anywhere else. It was in the South South before. So, it is not about you, but how you can assist as an individual or group to stop what is happening in the region,” she said.

She promised to use her office to rally well meaning Nigerians to assist displaced persons.
Receiving the relief materials, Executive Secretary of SEMA, Danlami Rukuje, who was represented by the Director of Administration and Finance, Hajiya Laraba Ahmed Kawu, said there are over 4000 persons living at the camp which was built to accommodate 1,600 people.
