Texas Policeman Filmed Wrestling Black Teenager To The Ground Resigns

Eric Casebolt had been put on leave pending an investigation of how he responded to the disturbance on Friday in Austin, Texas.

But now he has stepped down after a 10-year career in the force, his lawyer confirmed.

In the video, Casebolt is seen shouting obscenities at black youths in a multiracial crowd and shoving a black teenage girl.

He also briefly pointed his gun at black youths and threw the girl in her bathing suit to the ground, burying his knees in her back.

The seven-minute video, viewed 9 million times on YouTube, shows officers responding to the incident, which police said started when scores of young people attended a party at a community pool and refused to leave.

Hundreds of people rallied in McKinney on Monday night demanding the firing of Casebolt.

He has not spoken publicly about the incident and was not available for comment.

The shocking images were the latest in a growing number to come out of America showing what is seen as an over-zealous response from officers.
