House Maid Tortured With Hot Iron For Stealing N100

A middle-aged woman, Mr. Agnes Uchendu and her son, Ikechukwu Uchendu, in Umuahia, Abia State, are in police net for allegedly inflicting injuries on their house helps with hot electric iron.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeke, who disclosed this in Umuahia, said the suspects were picked up based on a petition by the International Federation of Women Lawyers, Abia State Chapter, led by one Florence E. Igwe, Esq.
The suspects, he said, allegedly tortured  their maids – Hope Ajunwa, 11, and Ngozi Ajunwa, 9, who  lived with them. 
He said, “Upon the receipt of the petition, operatives  proceeded to the given address and arrested both suspects and rescued the victims. One of the victims, Ngozi Ajunwa, had injuries on the sole of her foot and other parts of her body. 
“The victims had wounds on other parts of their bodies which were inflicted by the suspect with a hot electric pressing iron.” 
 The PPRO said upon interrogation, “Ikechukwu admitted committing the crime alleging that the minors stole one hundred Naira (N100.00).”
He said the victims  had been admitted  to the Nigeria Police Clinic Umuahia for medical attention.
Onyeke said the case was still under investigation, adding that  the suspects will soon be arraigned.
