Heading To Court As APC Rejects Gov Results - Delta Poll

THE All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected results of the just concluded governorship election in Delta State in which Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared winner, demanding cancellation of the results over alleged “massive fraud.”

Addressing newsmen in Warri, yesterday, in company of other Delta APC leaders, the governorship candidate in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, accused officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of “conniving with PDP/Labour Party to write and declare results which have no bearing on the will of the Delta electorate.”

Meanwhile, former labour leader and chieftain of the party, Chief Frank Kokori, on his part, said: “The PDP should not rejoice yet, those who are found involved in this impunity to sidetrack the will of the people will go to jail.”

Emerhor, continuing, said: “Recall that at the stakeholders meeting organised by INEC days before the elections, I spoke out on the fraud that marred the presidential election where results were cooked up and written without reference to the electorate.

“That those INEC returning officers who connived with the PDP/Labour Party alliance to deliver a whopping 1.4 million votes on March 28 remain in the system and unless disqualified from the April 11 elections, will repeat the feat again for the PDP. Of course, as nothing was done, the stage was set for the fraud that just took place.

“As it were, the presidential poll was the practice session for this fraud that has now been uniformly and unabashedly executed in all the South-South states from Akwa Ibom to Rivers and Delta State. In specifics, the fraud was executed at two levels.”

Emerhor alleged that in some quarters, deliberate war was unleashed on voters in most parts of Delta North and Central to disrupt proper voting as much as possible, accusing PDP stalwarts and their security details of working with thugs to  seize result sheets, cart away materials or disrupt voting generally and particularly in strongholds of APC.

He added that in other areas, few local governments or voting points were spared to serve as points to showcase purported free and fair election, adding that even at that, PDP reportedly resorted to vote buying at such voting points.

“The violence and commotion stated above was however, designed as a smokescreen for the real fraud of cooking up figures between PDP and their INEC accomplices. These figures are then allocated whimsically to the three main contending parties.”
