The 43-year-old man, Malam Abubakar Umar better known asAfrican Duduwalle, who started trekking from Yola inAdamawa state on Saturday, April 26, to celebrate GeneralMuhammadu Buhari’s victory arrived Gombe state on Thursday, April 30 and expected to spend the night there.

Umar was received by the officials of Airtel Nigeria in Gombe and given a smart phone to aide his communication as he proceeds on his journey to Abuja.

He said his bag is already full of letters of request he received from different people of the North East region, who asked him to give President-elect Muhammadu Buhari when he gets to Abuja.
He told NAN, “My bag is full of letters and requests from people who said I should give Buhari.

“Women also told me that I should appeal to the president-elect not to scrap the office of the First Lady, which affords women the opportunity to air their views as well as benefit from the government.
“Some people also told me to appeal to the president-elect to do something on the issue of Boko Haram; they even said they would bring photographs of the insurgency to take them to the General.”

Umar said he has been a Buhari supporter since 2003 when he was an ANPP (defunct) youth leader.
He said he initially wanted to ride a bicycle to Abuja but was inspired by Suleiman Hashimu, the man who trekked from Lagos to Abuja.
