Eid El Maulud: FG Declares Friday Public Holiday




The Federal Government has declared January 2, 2015 as public holiday to mark the Muslim festival of Eid el Maulud.

Making the announcement on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Makaji Abdulahi, urged Muslim faithful and Nigerians to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
The minister also enjoined Nigerians to engage in violence free activities in the run off to the 2015 general elections and wished Muslim faithful and Nigerians a very peaceful celebration.
The Eid el Maulud is a day set aside by Muslims worldwide to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) and in reflecting soberly on their faith.
