It was a day of total chaos on social media with conflicting reports emanating from different sources regarding popular actor, Muna Obiekwe on Sunday, January 18, 2014. First were unconfirmed reports that the actor had died in the evening of Sunday, January 18, 2014 only for a Twitter user in the actor’s name tweeting to counter claims that he was dead.
However, credence was lent to the handle’s claim at the time by the views of Nollywood stakeholders including the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima who said they had no information to confirm that Muna was really dead in response to enquiries.
But with colleagues of the late actor later confirming that the controversial actor had died while paying tribute to his talent and time on earth, it soon became clear that the Twitter handle – @MunaObiekwe, is really a fake account. Called out by Muna’s colleague, Nonso Diobi, the user finally surrendered in the early hours of today, Monday, January 19, 2015 confirming its fake status but not without hurling invectives at Nonso for exposing the account as fake to everyone on Twitter.
