First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has called on Nigerians, irrespective of political and religious inclinations, to assists the federal government in ending insurgency in the country.
She spoke at the weekend at Umueze 1 in Ehime Mbano local government of Imo State during the dedication of St Michael’s Catholic Church built by businessman, Chief Tony Chukwu.
Mrs Jonathan stated that Nigeria would overcome the current security challenges if the citizens remained united. She said: “The reality of the present situation imposes on every Nigerian, the obligation to subscribe to the philosophy of commitment.
“I want to remind everyone that peace requires commitment from all of us and should not be left for government alone.
“Nigerians are peace loving people, trouble makers should not be allowed to have their way. Our country will overcome every of its challenges”.
She also used the opportunity to hint on the Transformation Agenda of her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, stating that it had “changed the lives of the citizens for good.”
While calling for continued prayer for the nation, the first lady commended the benefactor for single handedly building the church, noting that the Church would bring the people in constant touch with God.

Earlier in his sermon, the officiating Priest and the Apostolic Nonsio, Augustine Kusuji, admonished Nigerians to fight the current insecurity with prayer, adding that through prayers, Boko Haram, Ebola and other frightening challenges could be overcome.
He assured that the Church would continue to play its role in maintaining peace, unity and harmony across the world.
The donor in his speech disclosed that the Church was his own way of giving back to humanity and God for his bountiful blessings on his family.
In attendance were the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremmadu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, Abia State Governor, Thoedore Orji, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba and former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim.
