Pregnant Woman Survives Car Accident Which Left Her Car Split Into Two

What a lucky woman! A pregnant woman is recovering after a serious crash in Gaston County, North Carolina, split her car into two pieces Tuesday afternoon. 

According to State Troopers, 

20-year-old Haley Smith was driving her Honda Accord on an expressway when she ran off the road to the right and over-corrected back onto the median. The car then went airborne before crashing where it was hit by an SUV and split in half.

Pictures from the fire department’s Facebook page showed the front end of the car separated from the back end. Nobody in the SUV was hurt.

EMS crews on scene said Smith was unconscious when they arrived and rushed her to the hospital. She is recovering and officials said she did not receive serious injuries and there were no complications with the pregnancy.

Troopers said they estimated Smith was driving roughly 100 mph when she crashed. She was charged with reckless driving, drug paraphernalia and having unsafe tires.
