Cultists Murder 'Okada' Man In Lagos

Gunmen suspected to be cultists have shot dead a commercial motor cyclist, popularly called 'okada' one Odunayo Ikuoyemi, aka Odo, on Adifashe Street, in the Somolu area of Lagos State.

The body of the 24-ear-old Ogun State man was found on a walkway beside a major drainage network on Tuesday.

Punch Metor gathered from residents that Ikuoyemi was smoking hemp around the drainage when the gunmen, who had been monitoring his movement, arrived on a motorcycle and rained bullets into him, killing the father of one on the spot.

Eyewitnesses said the culprits were suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity cult who has been on a revenge mission after one of their members was killed recently, believing that the okada man must have been a member of a rival cult in the area which has been engaged in a supremacy war.

According to a resident, the gunmen were two on the bike and immediately they sighted the deceased, they pumped bullets into him.
"He was backing them and was unaware of their presence. They first shot him in the armpit. When he turned around to face them, they gave him a second shot in the head and he fell into the gutter."

The gunshots spread panic in the area as residents ran for safety.
It was gathered that there had been various clashes between two major rival cult groups, Aiye and Eye, in the Somolu area in recent times, with heavy casualties on both sides.
The area is said to be divided into two with each cult group laying claim to a territory and forbidding its rival from stepping into its domain.
