Bankole, Daniel, Others Set To Dump PDP For SDP In Ogun

                                                                                     Dimeji Bankole, Gbenga Daniel

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ogun State is set for a further membership boost following strong indications that several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state are planning to leave for the party.
This came as a former chairman of the House of Representatives  Committee on Aviation, Hon. Dave Salako warned the national leadership of the PDP to choose between sanctioning the Chairman of its Mobilization and Organization Committee for the South West, Prince Buruji Kashamu and losing the 2015 elections in Ogun State.
Salako had accused Kashamu of being responsible for the state PDP intermittent crises.
Leaders of three of the major groups within the PDP in Ogun state are already mobilizing their followers for defection to the SDP, in view of the current crisis in the PDP, occasioned largely by their losses at the recent primaries in the state, reports Vanguard.
The three leaders are the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, former Governor Gbenga Daniel and Jubril Martins-Kuye. They are said to be planning a meeting where a decision will be reached on the planned defection.
Daniel reportedly held a secret meeting with the leader of the SDP in the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba in his Abeokuta residence, reports Vanguard, citing reliable sources. There were other PDP leaders said to be present at the meeting, including a governorship aspirant of the party, Chief Anthony Ojesina; a former chairman of the PDP in the state, Chief Joju Fadairo, among others.
Already, five members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal House of Representatives have defected to the SDP.
