Alleged Theft: Man Pours Acid On Wife, Self In Abuja

Doctors at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, are presently battling to save the lives of a middle-aged man and his wife after the man poured a liquid substance suspected to be acid on the wife and self.

The incident which took place in Gwagwa,Abuja, yesterday saw the man and his wife being rushed to a nearby clinic in the area, where they were rejected by doctors on duty due to lack of facilities in the clinic to handle such case.

The couple who hails from Enugu State were later rushed to University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada where they are currently receiving treatment from the acid burn.

Leadership gathered that trouble started in the family yesterday morning when the man accused the wife of stealing his money from his safe, while the wife denied touching his money.

However neighbours said that shortly after the quarrel between the couple, the man left the house and came back carrying a container, which nobody suspected to contain acid.

The man was said to have called the wife into the parlour and then poured the acid on her head and face, before pouring the remaining onto him.

It was then that neighbours, who heard screaming from the wife, rushed to find that the woman’s face had already be peeled, while the man was also received various degrees of burn from the substance.
